Ter Stegen's recent actions have left Barcelona officials fuming as president Joan Laporta, along with sporting director Deco, are considering taking the captain's armband back from the goalkeeper, according to . The German custodian was named club captain only last year after Sergi Roberto left as a free agent.

The Spanish champions are yet to make a final call on the captaincy decision, however, as Laporta and Deco plan to meet manager Hansi Flick to discuss the situation before taking any action. Barcelona's players will resume training after a small break that followed their return from a pre-season tour of Asia.
